C.R.I.T. Quarterly: Issue 3 Release Party

This month, we at C.R.I.T. are releasing the third issue of our quarterly book. This winter issue includes the photographic works of artists Kitty Ethridge, Ben Gebo, Beth A. Gilbert, Laura Miner, Traverse Day Robinette, Hannah Bemelmans, Michael Powers, and Dina Shaposhnikova.

In celebration of the release, please join us on Saturday, February 2nd from 7 pm - 9 pm at Redtail Studio, for an exhibition of photographs from the publication along with light refreshments. 

Copies of Issue 3, along with limited copies of  Issue 2, will be on sale at the reception. Issue 3 will also be available online beginning the day of the release; so stay tuned for the link on this blog!

Also, earlier on Feb 2nd, from 1pm - 6 pm, please visit our table at the Underground Artist & Burner Bazaar. Members of CRIT will be selling prints, along with copies of Issue 3.

Laura Miner in PICNIC @ Nave Gallery Annex

From January 25th till February 8th 2013, Laura Miner will be featured at the Nave Gallery Annex, in a group exhibition titled, PICNIC. Celebrating summer time despite the cold of winter, PICNIC will exhibit a selection from Laura's Dawn series,  playing off "the ripe thriving growth, the vibrant color of what's living in those sultry days of summer." as mentioned in PICNIC's statement of purpose.

Located in Davis Sq, Somerville, MA, this will be the Annex's first opening exhibition. PICNIC was curated by Jenn Harrington and Susan Berstler.

The participating artists are as listed:
Resa Blatman, Sarah Meyers Brent, Charles Daniels, Brooke Mullins Doherty, Adam Gooder, Brett Henrikson, Zach Horn, Marja Lianko, Julie Martini, Laura Miner, Cathy Moynihan, Liz Nofziger, Jesse Stansfield, Anne Siems, Sophia Sobers, Neil Wyatt.

 The opening reception is  this Friday January 25th from 6-9 p.m.

On Saturday September 15th C.R.I.T. launched the second issue of our quarterly publication. It was a fabulous evening at Dowd Properties, the owner of which, Paula Dowd, generously hosted this event and exhibited our photographs.

It was a beautiful late summer evening in Davis Sq. and it is safe to say we had double the turn out from our last rollicking event at Aviary. It was very much a success.

Everyone from CRIT would like to thank our family, friends, and new friends for supporting us once again. Also, a special thanks to Paula Dowd for allowing us to use her business as a venue for this event and for exhibiting our photographs for the month of September.

C.R.I.T. Quarterly: Issue 2 Release Party

Just in time for the end of summer, C.R.I.T. is releasing the second issue of our quarterly book. This summer issue includes the photographic works of artists Kitty Ethridge, Ben Gebo, Beth A. Gilbert, Peter Leavitt, Laura Miner, and Traverse Day Robinette. Also featured are the works of four new, warmly welcomed additions to C.R.I.T.: Hannah Bemelmans, Michael Powers, Eddy Pula, and Dina Shaposhnikova.

Featuring a thoughtful and enlightening introduction by photographer Stephen Tourlentes, C.R.I.T. is very proud to release this book to the public and to keep this new tradition going.

C.R.I.T. featured on Photo Nights Boston Blog

We are pleased to share that C.R.I.T. was featured on the Photo Nights Boston blog this past week. As this is the first bit of press that C.R.I.T. has received, we couldn't be more thrilled!

Caitie Moore, PNB blog coordinator and director of Aint-Bad Magazine,  wrote an excellent piece about C.R.I.T.; describing who we are, the aims of our collective, and even promoted our first publication.


If you are not yet familiar, Photo Nights Boston is a non profit organization whose mission is to "celebrate the power of photography" through the public display of large scale projections of photographic work by Boston area artists. PNB plans to hold a Boston public photo festival in 2013. Their goals of "[capturing] the attention of the public" and "[engaging] the greater community in photography and celebrate the power of public art." fall right in line with the goals of C.R.I.T.

Book Release Party at Aviary: Success!

This past Saturday, our reception at Aviary was a huge success!
As Traverse said,

"The energy at the opening could hardly be contained by the four walls of Aviary."

We had an amazing turnout, and sold a bunch of books.
C.R.I.T. wants to thank all of our family, friends, and people off the street for coming out and supporting us. We thank Lindsay Metivier at Aviary for being a gracious and accommodating hostess.

 After the success of this reception, there is no question that C.R.I.T. will be making more books, and having more exhibitions in the near future.

Bad Dudes: Samuel Quinn and Eddy Pula

On October 1st from 2-6pm, come see the works of Samuel Quinn and Eddy Pula at The Lilypad,  presented by the artist collective, Bad Dudes Productions.

C.R.I.T.'s First Group Show!

For the first time in C.R.I.T.'s history, we will be having a group exhibition! The gallery is in an amazing old silverware factory turned studio space in East Boston. We are so lucky to have such a diverse collection of styles and formats in this show. The exhibition runs from now until July 31st, with a closing reception on July 30th.

Hours:
The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm via the main entrance with the label "175 McClellan" there is also a large wooden ramp at this entrance.
Weekend appointments available with Traverse Robinette.

The building is a brown warehouse in the same complex as Planet Fitness. It is near the Courtyard Hotel, you can cut through the parking lot. The entrance for the night of the reception is the one closest to the highway, with the label "Executive Offices" just above the door.
We will have balloons marking that entrance and signs guiding guests to the gallery.
