Issue 2 Release Party: Another Excellent Night For Photography

On Saturday September 15th C.R.I.T. launched the second issue of our quarterly publication. It was a fabulous evening at Dowd Properties, the owner of which, Paula Dowd, generously hosted this event and exhibited our photographs.

It was a beautiful late summer evening in Davis Sq. and it is safe to say we had double the turn out from our last rollicking event at Aviary. It was very much a success.

Everyone from CRIT would like to thank our family, friends, and new friends for supporting us once again. Also, a special thanks to Paula Dowd for allowing us to use her business as a venue for this event and for exhibiting our photographs for the month of September.

Book Release Party at Aviary: Success!

This past Saturday, our reception at Aviary was a huge success!
As Traverse said,

"The energy at the opening could hardly be contained by the four walls of Aviary."

We had an amazing turnout, and sold a bunch of books.
C.R.I.T. wants to thank all of our family, friends, and people off the street for coming out and supporting us. We thank Lindsay Metivier at Aviary for being a gracious and accommodating hostess.

After the success of this reception, there is no question that C.R.I.T. will be making more books, and having more exhibitions in the near future.

Our First Book, and Reception at Aviary

Camera Records In Time presents our first quarterly publication titled, Selections.

It features the photography of Kitty Ethridge, Ben Gebo, Beth Gilbert, Peter Leavitt, Laura Miner, Traverse Robinette, and Jamie Spear.

This Saturday, April 21st, from 6 pm - 9 pm we will hold a celebratory reception at Aviary, located at 48 South St. Jamaica Plain, MA.
Join us for snacks, drinks, and some amazing photographers!
Copies of the book will be on display and available for purchase.

C.R.I.T.'s First Group Show!

For the first time in C.R.I.T.'s history, we will be having a group exhibition! The gallery is in an amazing old silverware factory turned studio space in East Boston. We are so lucky to have such a diverse collection of styles and formats in this show. The exhibition runs from now until July 31st, with a closing reception on July 30th.

Hours:
The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm via the main entrance with the label "175 McClellan" there is also a large wooden ramp at this entrance.
Weekend appointments available with Traverse Robinette.

The building is a brown warehouse in the same complex as Planet Fitness. It is near the Courtyard Hotel, you can cut through the parking lot. The entrance for the night of the reception is the one closest to the highway, with the label "Executive Offices" just above the door.
We will have balloons marking that entrance and signs guiding guests to the gallery.

C.R.I.T. 05/08/11

This month Laura, Traverse, Kitty, and Peter presented their work.

Laura showed prints from her on-going project, in which she photographs food that reminds one of blood. This month, the images were of close intimate shots using cherry pie filling and red frosting. The consensus was that the photographs utilizing red frosting looked most realistic, while those with the cherry pie filling were more erotic than bloody.

Traverse presented work that he shot while employed as a nanny for two young boys. The images document the children playing and just being kids, which in turn allowed the photographer to vicariously re-live childhood. This month, the group helped Traverse edit down his prolific amount of work.

Kitty has been photographing the Maine Avenue Fish Market in Washington D.C.. Kitty remarks that this is one of the only places in D.C. where all people, regardless of race and/or ethnicity, can shop together, alongside one another. She is documenting the market before it falls to redevelopment; the land would be razed in order to make way for a development project that would bring condominiums, commercial and retail spaces, as well as hotels.

Peter has begun a project photographing environments that represent and evoke his state of mind. The spaces are in transition, partially in decay and partially in growth, being held together by the human spirit.
